Privacy policy

This policy explains how NorthTill (“we”, “us”) handles personal information on this website, www.northtill.ca, including the Book a demo form. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the privacy laws of the provinces we work in.
What we collect
- When you book a demo: your name, business name, email, phone number, type of business, province or country, and, if you give them, how many stores you have and your message.
- If you tick “Email me NorthTill news”: that you agreed, and when.
- When you visit: the technical details any website receives, such as your internet address and browser type, kept by our hosting and security providers to keep the site working and safe.
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t build profiles of visitors.
Why we use it
- To contact you about the demo you asked for, by email or phone.
- To send you NorthTill news, only if you ticked the box. Every email has a way to unsubscribe.
- To keep the form free of spam and abuse.
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t use it for anything else without asking you.
Who helps us
We use a few service providers, who may only use your information to provide their service to us:
- DigitalOcean: our servers and database, in Toronto, Canada. Demo requests are stored here.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website, protects it from attacks, checks that the form is sent by a person (Turnstile), and stores our encrypted backups. Cloudflare may process information outside Canada, including in the United States.
- An email service, to send our replies and any news you asked for.
Information handled outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessed by its courts or authorities under those laws.
How long we keep it
- Demo requests are deleted 12 months after you send them.
- Your news subscription lasts until you unsubscribe.
- Encrypted backup copies are deleted within 90 days.
How we protect it
The site uses encrypted connections. Demo requests can be seen only by NorthTill’s administrators, who sign in with a password and a code from their phone. Our backups are encrypted, and we test restoring them.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Email us at [email protected] and we’ll reply within 30 days.
If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or your provincial privacy commissioner.
When stores use NorthTill
Stores that use NorthTill keep information about their own business, staff and customers in it, such as online orders. We handle that information on the store’s behalf, under our agreement with them. If you’re a store’s customer, please ask that store about your information.
Age
This website is for businesses, and isn’t meant for anyone under 18.
